Germany to resettle 100 refugees from Iraq

On the 19th of April, 2013, Germany announced that it would be resettling 100 refugees from Iraq. The refugees have been living in Camp Hurriya, a transit facility close to Baghdad. The UNHCR is currently determining the refugee status of the Camp's approximately 3,000 residents.

The announcement followed a similar declaration by Albania. The international community has now provided 10% of the Camp's population with an opportunity to resettle in a third country.
