Refugees in Tunisian Camp to be Resettled to Germany

News has emerged that 195 refugees currently living in the Shousha camp – located in Ben Guerdane, in southern Tunisia – are to be resettled in Germany this  September, with six more refugees planned to be resettled shortly thereafter. The first of 900 refugees to have arrived in Germany under a resettlement programme agreed in 2011. Nearly all of the refugees were displaced during the recent conflict in Libya.

Further to this, on October 9th 2012, 105 Iraqi refugees arrived in Hanover as part of the resettlement programme. They are being resettled from Turkey. These represent a second group after September's arrivals and is part of the 900 vulnerable refugees, as mentioned above, that are to be resettled by 2014 as part of a UN programme.
