Building Knowledge for a Concerted and Sustainable Approach to Refugee Resettlement in the EU and its Member States

Legal and administrative framework

Belgium

The Act concerning the entry, stay, settlement and removal of foreign nationals (1980) does not contain any provisions for resettlement. Nevertheless, two key decisions regulate resettlement of particular groups of refugees: (i) the Proposal (13 February 2009) adopted by the Council of Ministers about refugees from Jordan and Syria; and (ii) the Decision (24 March 2011) of the Cabinet about refugees from Libya.
